Headlamp now works ok. Looks like the bulb connection was to blame! - I fixed this by buying a new headlamp from a dude on ebay. The bulb in this one is like twice the size of your normal 6v headlamp bulb... it certainly lights up those country lanes.

I hope you find the right candidate dax. I guess it's frustrating when you go through the hastle of taking somebody on and then they fail on the time keeping to a point where you can no longer employ them... you then get rid of him / her and before you know it you are back to square one again!
